Property Summary

Avenue house is a pretty, end of terrace Grade II listed period house situated in Castle Cary, one of Somerset’s most picturesque towns. Built with a beautiful Doulting stone façade with a golden Cary stone return, this charming period property dates back to the early 19th century and retains many of its original period features.

The entrance is situated to the side of the house and opens to a reception hall with access to a cloakroom. Off the hall is an elegantly furnished sitting room with its cornicing on the ceiling and a gas fired stove (not included in sale) situated in a magnificent period fireplace. Built in cupboards and book shelves grace the walls whilst the windows are framed with traditional panelled shutters. Also off the hall is a further living/dining room with stairs to the first floor and warmed by an gas fired aga. The kitchen to the rear of the house has doors that open directly to pretty steps and the garden with a seasoned stone terrace.
Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, a store room/small study and a family bathroom. The landing is lined with built in bookshelves and cupboards for storage. A further flight of stairs lead to an attractive attic room with exposed timber beams and wooden floorboards.

Outside is a courtyard style garden that is accessed by timber double gates and features a second terrace. Notably, there is garage/store that could be converted into an annexe or home office with the relevant planning consents. Parking is also available to the road to the front of the house. A redundant cellar beneath the house is accessed from the road although It is currently boarded up. The property could benefit from some updating.
